Dubai SME in a Box: Dubai has launched a new platform designed to make it easier for entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized businesses to set up and operate in the emirate.
The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) launched SME in a Box on June 4, 2026. The platform brings several essential business services together through a single onboarding journey, covering areas such as licensing support, banking, digital payments, logistics and telecommunications.
What is SME in a Box?
SME in a Box gives founders a single entry point to access services from a network of private-sector providers.
DET says businesses often have to deal with several providers when launching operations. This can involve comparing different offers, completing multiple onboarding processes and managing separate service arrangements.
The new platform is designed to bring these services together and reduce some of that administrative work.
More than AED 80,000 in potential value
One of the key figures highlighted by DET is more than AED 80,000 in potential value per business across core operational services.
The amount is not a fixed payment or guaranteed cash saving for every company. According to DET, the potential value comes through a combination of discounted transaction rates, fee waivers, subsidised onboarding, reduced service charges and preferential partner packages.
The actual value available to a business depends on the solutions it activates and its individual requirements.
Emirati SME members can also receive additional preferential offers and enhanced onboarding support.
18 private-sector partners
SME in a Box launched with 18 private-sector partners offering SME-focused packages and onboarding support.
The partners named by DET are:
-
Emirates NBD
-

-
Commercial Bank of Dubai
-

-

-

-

-

-

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank
The partners cover different areas of business operations, allowing companies to access multiple services through the platform.
Businesses can potentially save up to 200 hours
Cost is not the only focus of SME in a Box.
DET says founders who activate banking and payment solutions through the platform can potentially save up to 200 hours that would normally be spent sourcing providers, comparing offers, negotiating contracts and completing separate onboarding processes.
The aim is to help founders move more quickly from the setup stage to operating their businesses.
Some services can be activated within 24 hours
Certain digital-first services, including payments, logistics and telecommunications, can be activated in as little as 24 hours through integrated onboarding and automated eligibility verification.
This does not mean every service will be completed within 24 hours.
DET states that more complex services, including corporate banking and licensing approvals, continue to follow standard regulatory requirements. However, coordinated onboarding and pre-validation are intended to help reduce administrative delays.
What services does SME in a Box cover?
The platform is being rolled out in phases.
The initial services include:
-
Licensing support
-
Banking
-
Payment processing
-
Telecommunications
-
Logistics
-
Marketing services
Future phases are expected to add deeper digital integration and more automated onboarding processes.
Integration with Invest in Dubai
DET says SME in a Box will eventually integrate with the Invest in Dubai platform.
The planned integration is intended to create a more unified digital entry point for business setup and operations in Dubai.
This means the platform is not being positioned as a standalone service only. Its capabilities are expected to expand as additional digital integrations are introduced.
Connection with Dubai Founders HQ
SME in a Box will also be integrated within Dubai Founders HQ.
According to DET, this will connect founders with investors, corporates and other ecosystem partners. Businesses will be able to access wider support such as mentorship, growth programmes, market access and strategic partnerships.
The aim is to support businesses beyond their initial setup and help them move towards growth.
Who is the platform for?
DET says entrepreneurs, startups, Dubai SME members and Dubai-based businesses are invited to explore SME in a Box and activate available services.
The benefits and onboarding requirements can differ depending on the service selected. Businesses should therefore check the individual terms and eligibility requirements before proceeding.
Dubai SME in a Box: Dubai's wider SME support
The launch forms part of Dubai's broader efforts to improve the business environment and support small and medium-sized enterprises.
DET said the initiative is aligned with the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33, which includes the objective of doubling the size of Dubai's economy.
For businesses, the immediate focus of SME in a Box is more practical: bringing essential services into one onboarding journey, reducing administrative work and providing access to preferential offers from participating providers.
What businesses should know
SME in a Box does not remove the regulatory requirements attached to services such as business licensing or corporate banking.
Instead, it provides a coordinated route to several services that businesses may need when establishing and running their operations.
The headline benefits are 18 participating private-sector partners, more than AED 80,000 in potential value, and up to 200 hours of potential time savings for founders using relevant services.
The actual benefits will depend on the business, the services selected and the applicable partner terms.
The information in this article is based on the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism's official announcement dated June 4, 2026.
