Dubai Police Have Supercars: A Lamborghini in police colours is unusual anywhere in the world. A Bugatti Veyron wearing the same colours is even harder to imagine.

But in Dubai, both have been part of the police fleet.

Dubai Police has become famous for its collection of high-performance and luxury patrol vehicles, with names such as Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Bugatti, Audi, Bentley and Mercedes-Benz appearing in its fleet over the years.

The obvious question is: why does a police force need supercars?

The answer is more interesting than simply saying they are used to chase speeding cars.

Dubai Police's Supercar Story Began With a Lamborghini

The international attention around Dubai Police's supercar fleet grew rapidly in 2013, when a Lamborghini Aventador joined the force.

The car was capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in around 2.9 seconds and became an instant attraction because of its police livery.

But the Lamborghini was not introduced simply as an ordinary replacement for a patrol car.

Dubai Police's luxury vehicles have been associated with tourist areas, public engagement and increasing police visibility. The force has continued to use high-performance vehicles in its Tourism Police operations.

That helped turn an unusual police vehicle into something of a Dubai attraction.

Then Dubai Police Added Ferrari, Aston Martin and More

The Lamborghini was only the beginning.

Dubai Police subsequently built a collection that included a Ferrari FF, Aston Martin One-77, Audi R8, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Mercedes SL 63, Bentley Continental GT and Nissan GT-R, among other high-performance models.

The Aston Martin One-77 was particularly unusual because only 77 examples of the model were produced worldwide.

The fleet therefore became more than a single eye-catching vehicle. It developed into a recognisable part of Dubai's public-facing police presence.

The Bugatti Veyron Took the Story to Another Level

Then came the car that gave Dubai Police a Guinness World Records title.

In 2016, Dubai Police added a Bugatti Veyron to its fleet.

The Veyron has a recorded top speed of 407 km/h (253 mph), and Guinness World Records lists Dubai Police's vehicle as the fastest police car in service. The record was recorded in April 2016.

The numbers are extraordinary even for a supercar.

The Veyron used a 16-cylinder engine producing about 1,000 horsepower and could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 2.5 seconds, according to Guinness World Records.

That created one of Dubai's most unusual automotive facts:

A police car in Dubai has been officially recorded at more than 400 km/h.

But Are These Cars Really Used to Chase Criminals?

This is where the Dubai Police fleet is often misunderstood.

The force has repeatedly connected its luxury patrol cars with tourist destinations, major events, public engagement and police visibility.

In its announcement about the Aston Martin Vantage, Dubai Police said adding supercars to its luxury patrol fleet helps strengthen police presence during international events and at important tourist destinations.

The same approach can be seen in later additions.

Dubai Police has specifically identified locations such as Burj Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard and JBR as places where luxury patrol vehicles can strengthen police presence.

So the supercars have a very public-facing role.

Tourists can see them, photograph them and interact with officers, while the vehicles provide a visible police presence in some of Dubai's busiest visitor areas.

Dubai Police Have Supercars: The Cars Can Also Become a Way to Talk to Tourists

There is another practical side to the unusual fleet.

Dubai Police's luxury patrol officers can provide information, guidance and police assistance to visitors.

When Mercedes-Benz vehicles were added to the fleet in 2025, Dubai Police said officers using the vehicles would be present in tourist areas and provide visitors with information and police services.

That means the cars are not simply parked as expensive displays.

They are part of a wider Tourism Police presence.

Dubai Police Is Not Sticking Only to Petrol Supercars

The fleet has also changed with automotive technology.

In 2022, Dubai Police introduced the Hongqi E-HS9, described by Dubai Media Office as its first electric SUV in the luxury patrol fleet.

The move continued with the Lotus Eletre R, which joined the Tourist Police fleet in 2024.

The electric Lotus has dual electric motors producing 905 horsepower, with a stated range of up to 600 kilometres. Dubai Police said it would strengthen its security presence at key tourist locations.

So the story has moved from simply having exotic petrol-powered cars to including electric performance vehicles as well.

Dubai Police Added an Audi That Can Reach 100 km/h in 3.4 Seconds

In August 2025, Dubai Police added the Audi RS7 Performance to its luxury patrol fleet.

The official figures are impressive: 630 horsepower, 850 Nm of torque and 0–100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.

Dubai Police said the vehicle supports its goal of strengthening police presence at key tourist destinations while continuing to upgrade its patrol fleet.

The choice also shows that the force is continuing to add newer performance vehicles rather than simply maintaining the original collection of famous supercars.

Mercedes Brought Three More Luxury Patrol Cars

The fleet continued expanding in September 2025 with three Mercedes-Benz models:

  • Mercedes-AMG SL 55

  • Mercedes-AMG GT 63

  • Mercedes EQS 580

The EQS 580 is fully electric, while the SL 55 and GT 63 are high-performance AMG models.

Dubai Police said the vehicles feature modern mechanical and technological systems, including AI-related technology and interactive displays. The force also linked their deployment to tourist locations such as Burj Khalifa, Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard and JBR.

Even a Bentley Joined the Fleet

The unusual fleet continued to grow in November 2025 when Dubai Police added a Bentley Bentayga Azure.

The luxury SUV produces 542 horsepower and was introduced as part of the force's luxury patrol fleet.

Dubai Police said the Bentley would be deployed in key tourist areas and locations requiring a strong security presence.

That is an important detail because it shows the fleet is not limited to the classic image of a two-door supercar.

It now includes supercars, electric vehicles, luxury SUVs and high-performance sedans.

Where Can You See Dubai Police Supercars?

The vehicles are particularly associated with major tourist areas and events.

Dubai Police has identified places including:

  • Burj Khalifa

  • JBR

  • Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard

  • Other major tourist destinations

  • International and major public events

The force's own announcements describe the vehicles as part of its efforts to increase police presence in these locations.

This also explains why visitors are more likely to notice the exotic police cars in tourist-heavy parts of Dubai than on every ordinary residential street.

The Most Surprising Part Isn't the Price

When people see a Lamborghini or Bugatti in Dubai Police colours, the first reaction is usually about the price.

But the more interesting story is how the cars are being used.

Dubai Police has turned luxury patrol vehicles into a combination of:

  • Police visibility

  • Tourist engagement

  • Public interaction

  • Major-event presence

  • Patrol support

  • A showcase of newer automotive technology

The fleet has also evolved from famous petrol supercars to electric vehicles and technology-focused models.

From a 407 km/h Bugatti to Electric Patrol Cars

Dubai Police's supercar story has changed significantly over the years.

The Lamborghini Aventador helped create the international attention. The Bugatti Veyron turned the fleet into a Guinness World Records story with its 407 km/h record. Later, vehicles such as the Hongqi E-HS9, Lotus Eletre R, Audi RS7, Mercedes EQS 580 and Bentley Bentayga Azure showed that the fleet was continuing to evolve.

So, does Dubai Police really need a Bugatti?

The official explanation is less about having the world's fastest police chase car and more about maintaining a visible police presence, particularly in tourist destinations and during major events, while engaging with the public.

And that may be the most interesting fact about Dubai's famous police supercars: they are as much about being seen as they are about being fast.
