Dubai Gold Prices: Gold shoppers in Dubai saw a small increase in local gold prices on Thursday morning as the market opened, while investors around the world turned their attention to the latest US inflation figures.

The inflation data is being closely watched because it could influence expectations about what the US Federal Reserve may do with interest rates at its next policy meeting.

In Dubai, 24K gold opened at Dh531.25 per gram on Thursday. The rate for 22K gold was Dh492 per gram, while 21K gold stood at Dh471.75. The opening price for 18K gold was Dh404.25 per gram, and 14K gold was priced at Dh315.50 per gram.

International Gold Prices Move Slightly Lower

The rise in Dubai's opening rates came even as gold prices in the international market slipped slightly.

At around 9:05am UAE time, spot gold was trading at approximately $4,409.20 per ounce, marking a 0.13 per cent decline.

Silver also recorded a fall during the morning session. The precious metal was trading at around $67.52 per ounce, down 0.81 per cent.

The relatively small movements show that traders are waiting for a clearer signal from the US economic data before making bigger bets on the direction of precious metals.

Why US Inflation Matters for Gold

Inflation numbers can have a direct impact on financial markets because they help investors assess the future path of US interest rates.

Gold does not generate interest income, so it can become more appealing when expectations of lower interest rates increase. Conversely, the prospect of higher rates can make interest-bearing assets more attractive and may weigh on gold demand.

That is why traders are watching the latest inflation figures closely. Any surprise in the data could lead to fresh movements in both the international gold market and local prices.

Dubai Gold Rates at Thursday's Opening

Here are the opening gold rates in Dubai:

  • 22K: Dh492 per gram

  • 21K: Dh471.75 per gram

These are the quoted gold rates and should not be confused with the final amount paid for jewellery.

What Dubai Jewellery Buyers Should Know

If you're planning to buy gold jewellery in Dubai, the rate per gram is only one part of the final bill. Making charges can differ between retailers and designs, so two pieces containing the same amount of gold may still have different final prices.

It is therefore worth checking the gold rate, weight and making charges before buying. For expensive jewellery, comparing a few stores can help you get a better idea of the overall price.

For investors and regular gold buyers, international market movements and upcoming US economic data will remain important factors to watch. A stronger-than-expected inflation reading could change interest-rate expectations, potentially affecting gold prices in the next trading sessions.
