Dubai New Fourth Corridor: Dubai has approved a new Fourth Corridor project that will strengthen road connections between Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Announced on September 16, 2026, the project will extend for approximately 80 kilometres and will be developed in two phases.

The new corridor will run from Al Faya Road in Abu Dhabi to Al Shanouf Road in Sharjah, passing through Dubai.

Dubai New Fourth Corridor Route

The new Fourth Corridor will connect Al Faya Road in Abu Dhabi with Al Shanouf Road in Sharjah through Dubai.

The corridor will have 12 lanes in both directions and a capacity of up to 24,000 vehicles per hour in both directions.

The overall project includes 72 bridges, 17 tunnels and 45 stormwater drainage culverts.

Phase 1 of Dubai Fourth Corridor

Phase 1 will cover approximately 30 kilometres, connecting Al Shanouf Road with Dubai–Al Ain Road.

The estimated cost of the first phase is AED 3.5 billion.

It will include:

  • 55 lane-kilometres of at-grade roads

  • 2.5 kilometres of tunnels

  • 21 kilometres of bridges and ramps

As part of Phase 1, Dubai–Al Ain Road will be widened from three lanes to four lanes in each direction between Emirates Road and Lehbab Road.

Four major intersections will also be upgraded.

The journey covered by the first phase is expected to be reduced from 35 minutes to 14 minutes. The phase is expected to serve around 600,000 people.

Phase 2 of Dubai Fourth Corridor

Phase 2 will cover approximately 50 kilometres, extending from Dubai–Al Ain Road to Al Faya Road in Abu Dhabi.

The second phase will also have 12 lanes in both directions and a capacity of up to 24,000 vehicles per hour in both directions.

It will include:

  • 190 lane-kilometres of at-grade roads

  • 3.5 kilometres of tunnels

  • 157 kilometres of bridges and ramps

A specified journey is expected to decrease from 50 minutes to 24 minutes.

Phase 2 is expected to serve around 3.1 million people.

Key Locations Connected by the New Corridor

The project will connect with or support access to several major locations and infrastructure projects, including:

  • Al Maktoum International Airport

  • Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve

  • Al Wohoosh Desert Conservation Reserve

  • Etihad Rail route

  • Residential areas

  • Development areas

The corridor is also intended to support logistics and commercial transport and divert through traffic, particularly trucks, away from urban areas.

It will also provide additional road capacity, support logistics and commercial transport, and improve connections to major infrastructure and developing areas.
